• Hi, I’m getting an error message

    Could not copy file.: wordpress/wp-admin/css/wp-admin-rtl.min.css
    Installation Failed

Which I have not had before, I’ve changed permission on this file but still get the same error message but for a different file… Could you tell me what I need to do, my website is starting to glitch so I really need to update the software

    thanks

  • Ok, what permissions do you have set across the whole site? I would suggest setting them to 755 to start with and see if that fixes the issue.

    Hi Jacob,

I tried setting the folders and all files contained within to 777 but it didn’t work so have reset them to 707. Would there be a time lag after setting permission, for example would I need to wait half an hour before trying it again or would they change instantaneously?

    I did wp-admin and wp-contents permission to 777

Permission changes will work straight away. Try 755 across everything (777 is very insecure) and see if that works.

But if it doesn’t work with 777?

Some control panels get upset with 777 so I would try 755 ??

I’m having the same issue trying to update to WordPress 4.4.2? Did you manage to get the update to work?
