• Hello,

I’m using WordPress for a men’s ministry website. I have upgraded before with the themes and plugins and this has never happened. All the pages on WordPress are white. But on the internet…you can still see the website.

I just finished deactivating all the plugins and reactivating them. As well as changing the theme and looking under Tools for the health of the sight. I really really do not know what else to do. I can not change anything on the website. Any suggestions… Am I going to have to start from scratch again? Is this common after an upgrade?

Do you have a recent backup of your database and files?
Do you have access to your webhosting account to see which PHP version is in use on your site?

“But on the internet…you can still see the website.” > would you be able to share the website URL?

Is this common after an upgrade?

No, but that shouldn’t stop you from following best-practices:

    1) Maintain up-to-date backups all the time (perhaps automated daily backups)

    2) TEST every major version before applying it to your live site (or at the very least consult the authors of your theme and major plugins to be sure their products are fully compatible with the new major version of WordPress before upgrading).

All the pages on WordPress are white. But on the internet…you can still see the website.

I don’t get what you mean. Is the problem happening in the admin dashboard, or is it happening on your PUBLIC website? If it’s on the public website, can you share your site’s address so I can take a look?

Hey @adminlajj no it is not common to have your website broken after an upgrade. I understand that the admin works, and the user facing part (the front end) is just white pages. What do you mean by:

But on the internet…you can still see the website.

If you can deactivate the plugins, I suggest that you deactivate all of them, then enabling them one by one and checking of the pages are still white. This way you may find which one – if any – is causing issues.

    Hello,

    Website :https://menunitedministry.com
But on the dashboard where you click on pages and go to the different pages of your sight. If I click on the home page for example…the screen is completely white. Nothing is there.

I do have access to the web hosting account.

Hi. I’m having a very similar experience. After the update, as the site administrator, I am no longer able to add or edit post for my site. Sittingprettywithselena.com
The pages are visible if you are viewing as a non administrator or when I log out and view online as a visitor. When I select add or edit the page/post opens and is just a white, blank page with no options to select any functions. I’m not sure what to do from this point. Please advise.

    Nice site.

First, run through some basics: clear your cookies, try access with an incognito tab, try with different browsers like Firefox vs Chrome, try mobile vs desktop…

Check your email. If WP notices a major issue it will send the site admin an email with a limited-duration link that grants access in recovery mode.

This forum has thousands of conversations on white screen when logged in. Cruise through and see if any seem to fit your situation.

Since you have hosting access, you could restore your site with the last backup. They are usually automatic so, hopefully, you wouldn’t lose much data since the last one.

Thank you everyone for your advice. I have tried everything, and nothing has changed. But I am still looking through the forums and it looks like a lot of people are having trouble when they upgrade to 5.6 wordpress. If anymore news comes related to this issue…please let know. Thanks.

@america1st Thank you! I’ll try those suggestions. Wish me luck!

I have the same issue with blank pages, all content has gone from within the editor but the content is available on the live pages…

And also, although the pages are live on the backoffice menu, they are now gone completely from my website- from 12 pages am left with 4…

I don’t know what to do, please help!
