Upgrade to Version 4.4.4 breaks search widget

I am upgrading my theme from 3.4 to 4.4.4 in a localhost test environment. I am using the built-in WordPress search widget in the Main Sidebar.
In version 3.4, the widget has a “Go” button to submit the form.
In version 4.4.4, this button has been removed. When viewing the page for the first time, there is a small magnifying glass icon where the button should be. When I hover over the icon or select the search form, the icon disappears.
I have reproduced this problem using the Ivory Search plugin (add the default widget to the Main Sidebar).
I can only submit a search by pressing the Enter key. How can this be fixed?

I have fixed the missing button by creating a child theme using
searchform.phpfrom Version 3.4.Additional CSS:
#searchform { margin-top:10px; display:flex; } #searchsubmit { color: #ffffff; background-color: #1874cd; border-radius: 2px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; font-weight: 400; line-height: 1.4; font-style: normal; letter-spacing: 0px; }I don’t see it in the Responsive Theme Change Log.
