Upgrade tot 3.1 leaves website blank: Fatal error!
-
Hi,
I got this fatal error when I upgraded to 3.1:
Fatal error: Class ‘WP_List_Table’ not found in /usr/home/deb18228n2/domains/homecinemamagazine.nl/public_html/wp-admin/includes/list-table.php on line 76
Restoring my backup does not even help..
What can I do?
Please help!

I have to apologize. I have found out that the problem lied with the provider. Its working again. Wp is NOT to blame. Sorry for my sharp words
Really pleased your issue is resolved – enjoy the rest of the your weekend!
@wideblueyonder; thank you very much although I feel ashamed jumping into conclusions to fast. Seemed like a rare combinaion of events that I id not concider possible.
I would not mind if you delelete my first to posts…
@mateo1041: thank you to. I always make backups of db and wp before any major update.
Well guys and girls, seems I really need that weekend brake ??
@plusvision – what did your host say was wrong.
I am on a dedicated server and have completely re-installed wordpress but am still getting the white screen, can’t login to backend or anything.
Any help appreciated
The first thing I tried was resetting the plugins folder. Did that couple of times; no results. Than I figured it had to be a hosting thing as I could not contact the database with phpmyadmin to try the other remedy with the tables/rows. I have another domain with same host but still running wp 3.0.5 and phpmyadmin could not connect as well.
I added however an index.html in place to have at least something there and it could be loaded. So I thought perhaps php is down, but running a phppinfo said it was up..
That’s the point I decided not to do anything and wait but odd enough I have still no reply form my host but the wp site, 3.1 like I said is back on.
Perhaps resetting the plugins folder did the trick after all but I doubt that because there were at least 7+ hours between resetting and site back on.
Forgot: I also reset the db pasword when phpmyadmin could not connect, but no results too. It must have been a hosting / server issue in my case. Still I have no answer.
I’ve had several strange issues with this upgrade. Usually I wait a few weeks until I make the switch, but went ahead this time after noticing the core packages from previous upgrades didn’t really change.
I followed the instructions here. They were a little different than other instructions I’ve used. Once, I was done replacing all the WP files, I went to my main blog part of the site, and I received a fatal error.
I don’t recall which page it directed me to. To fix it, I started replacing the pages from my backup. I had to do this a half dozen times, before I could get to my site and then the wp-admin. Some of the pages I recall were wp-includes/template.php, wp-admin/template.php, the list-table previously mentioned, and some temporary.php files.
My provider explicitly states it does not offer support for WP. I have not been able to do an auto-upgrade for months. I have relied on the manual upgrade. Auto-updates for plugins have been hit or miss since November. Currently, when I try to update 4 of my plugins, I receive the list-table error previously mentioned.
Does anyone have any specific questions I could ask my provider, as I believe some of the problems could be some conflict.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Why oh why did I have to upgrade… I usually wait awhile, this time I just went ahead. I’ll never do that again.
My plug-in upgrade error.
Fatal error: Call to undefined function show_admin_bar() in /home/mickysgr/public_html/blog/wp-admin/includes/template.php on line 1542
After upgrading this morning, I can access my dashboard but the site will not come up, just a blank white page.
I have tried the solution of renaming plugins, also tried renaming my theme, neither has any effect.
When I try to access my site in firefox, I still get this error message: “Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.”
What does this mean? Please help, someone!
@wordpressn00b77 Did you try this
– deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). –
Using Ftp rename plugins folder to say plugins-hold and create a blank plugins folder then try logging inIf you can log in you will see all plugins deactivated go back in ftp delete the blank plugins folder and rename plugins-hold back to plugins.
Activate and update one plugin at time to see which one is causing the problem
switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems? –
re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?
Finally got a reply from my hosting provider:
“We were experiencing a glitch with some of the MySQL servers”In my case it appeared to be the server. No furtther info… I am sorry, cant help you with any details.. Hope you will get your site up again soon.
Thanks for your help, govpatel!
I deactivated the plugins from my dashboard, but the site still won’t load.
Renamed the plugins folder in filezilla ftp, still won’t load.
Changed to Twenty Ten theme, still won’t load.
In IExplore, I got this error:
“PHP Warning: require_once() [function.require-once]: Unable to access E:\Users\MyName\www\wordpress-MyName/wp-includes/wp-db.php in E:\Users\MyName\www\wordpress-MyName\wp-includes\load.php on line 325 PHP Warning: require_once(E:\Users\MyName\www\wordpress-MyName/wp-includes/wp-db.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No error in E:\Users\MyName\www\wordpress-MyName\wp-includes\load.php on line 325 PHP Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘E:\Users\MyName\www\wordpress-MyName/wp-includes/wp-db.php’ (include_path=’.;c:\php5′) in E:\Users\MyName\www\wordpress-MyName\wp-includes\load.php on line 325”
but I do not know what this means.
Then, I deleted the wp-admin and wp-includes folders and uploaded new ones, the site still won’t load, it seems like it is timing out.
I had this same issue after upgrading automatically on my dreamhost account. Kept getting “Fatal error: Class ‘WP_List_Table’ not found..” error.
Thanks to the person who suggested plugin WPeMatico as the issue. I FTP’d in, deleted that folder, and everything works perfectly. Thanks!!
alas, I do not have the WPeMatico plugin.
