• Hi, blog was running fine. Upgraded PHP to version 4.4.2 and mySQL to 4.1.18, the blog stopped working. None of the other software on the server stopped running, only wordpress.

I also tried a fresh install, same problem. No error messages, only a blank screen.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks.
    Simon.

note2: when attempting a fresh install the install.php script gets to step 2 and then freezes.

    Second Step

Now we’re going to create the database tables and fill them with some default data.

nothing happens beyond that. Does anybody know if there are any issues with any MySQL versions / PHP versions?

    thank you.
    Simon.

Are you able to use phpMyAdmin to access your database? This really isn’t a question about the database but about running another php program…

Have you tried rebooting your server?

this is why i always say… BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP before you upgrade anything.. im sorry you had to learn that the hard way.. WP 2.0 comes with a builtin database backup plugin. If you have a backup of the database, just do a clean install and restore the backup. GL!

Hi, Tired rebooting. Works fine. The database is intact nothing wrong there. All other PHP applications on the server run fine. (Joomla! works perfectly)

What confuses me is that even a clean install does not complete, as if wp is unable to write/read from the database.

    any thoughts?
    Thanks
    Simon.
