Can anyone suggest why I can’t access /wp-admin/ after upgrading and following the instructions as close as possible…

    wp-admin/

it says: You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.

I uploaded and re-uploaded new pages, the front-end looks fine.

    Thanks,
    Herb.

  • I think its your permalinks… try deleting your .htaccess file, wp will reset it.

by the way, that’s a cute .com you have there. and here I thought all the cute domains were taken ??

As a fellow aussie, I look forward to checking out your posts.

Cheers Ivovic. it sure is tough to find a decent .com nowadays…

    I don’t actually have a .htaccess

(I’m new to Mac’s – I’m using ‘Transmit’, perhaps it’s got something to do with it)

well, it seems you got it going by messing with your permalinks… so whatever method you’re using for redirection, that’s what was causing it.

k, thanks anyway. I’m lost. I’ll try for a complete re-install. Never seen anything like this before.

maybe you and I are seeing different things. I can get to your wp-admin logon page just fine, now.

aha, my other comp – no worries. Open Safari – no worries. Even though I had cleared the cache in Firefox I still can’t view it in FF.

Thanks for your help. Must be cache or something in my Mac AIR. I’ll go learn more about os x.

    Thanks for your help.

I have the same problem as herbshirt, and either know what’s going on, i have windows XP so i don’t think the mac OS X is the problem…

update: I can’t access the admin page in any browser.
I thought perhaps there was a plugin causing the issue so I renamed the plugins folder in the hope it whatever it was would be disabled…. it didn’t work.
I’d love to sort this one out but if I can’t soon, luckily its a brand new site and I’ll delete everything from eh server and start again. grrr.

I’ve just upgraded to 2.5 (www.kainzy.org) and have the same issue. I’m using a K2 theme btw but that can’t be it as it happened with other themes too.

My admin page is just blank. I’m completely confused by this right now.

Kainz: Non-updated versions of the K2 theme (and any theme based on it) break the dashboard in WordPress 2.5.

iridiax, cheers mate. I managed to get access to the dash and switch to the latest version of K2 and that sorted accessing the dashboard. Sadly the theme is a bit iffy with IE6/7 but fine with Opera and FF from what I can see.
