I was on WP Admin and added a link, worked fine. I got a popup about 3.0 and remembered users saying 3.0 should be pretty solid, so I went ahead and upgraded through the WP Admin menu. No issues with that. I went back to what I was doing by adding another link, failed. I tried again, failed.

By failed I mean, it just simply didn’t show up. No errors, but even with me hitting save, it never saved.

I then tried to remove one of the previous links I made, and it too didn’t budge. No errors, it just flat out didn’t work.

I logged out of WP Admin thinking I had to log out and back in, and now when I try to log back in, I can’t get in. No errors whatsoever. It just simply doesn’t log in. It brings me right back to the login screen almost instantly.

    What can I do?

  • I have a similar problem.

After the login screen i’m greeted by a permissions error saying that i can’t access the backend.

Have either of you tried disabling your plugins?

If you can’t access wp-admin, you can rename the plugins folder and try again. See this codex page.

Didn’t work. What can I do?

EDIT – Wow. I can’t log into phpmyadmin either. Do I have the right password? YUP! I had it saved in Firefox.

    ??

    Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder using FTP (or use whatever file management application your host provides)

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-running the upgrade manually.

    None of the above worked.

I have the same Problem. I get redirected to the Login page every time I try to log in. Tried everything above, but that doesn’t work. Also tried to delete cookies and cache… doesn’t work neither.

I’m glad I’m not alone. It’s discouraging to having only used WordPress for a matter of 2 days and already an upgrade completely borked my setup. I’m not really sure what else to do. The users in the IRC chat on freenode have been extremely helpful, but ultimately all I get is no where since everybody is as confused as I am.

Shimshon9, can you log into phpmyadmin, or does that error out too? I’m curious about doing a removal/purge of MySQL and re-adding it to see if I can rebuild what I once had to see if that’ll fly…

Cancel that. I did a removal and purge of MySQL Server 5.1 and re-added it. Added the same password I used before, and yet still PHPMyAdmin doesn’t let me log in.

    Wow. Really?

If phpMyAdmin isn’t letting you in, you have a bigger issue that WP (there’s no likely or even unlikely way the WP upgrade buggered that password!). Can you use the same ID/Password to log into your site via FTP/SSH as you can via phpMyAdmin?

The log in into my php admin is no problem for me.

    Shimshon9, go through these – https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Login_Trouble

When you manually re-uploaded the files, did you delete the wp-includes and wp-admin folders or just overwrite?

Hi, I am not sure what is the solution. I having the same problem, after an upgrade 24 hrs ago

I automatic-upgraded from the Admin page and got a maintenance screen, try later message. Now I cannot log into my Admin screen to disable plugins.

Most certainly, the upgrade is responsible, as nothing else has changed on the system.

When all is working and a single change (upgrade) is made, problems that follow have to be the result of the change (upgrade).

How can I disable plugins when I can’t get to them?

Apparently, my problem is browser specific. The website comes up in Firefox, but not IExplorer.

OK. I disable my plugin folder by renaming it…and it works. But what do I do now…to update all my plugins?
