Upgraded to 3.01, would like some help editing appearance on page

I am somewhat of a beginner with WordPress, so I will apologize in advance if my questions are silly ones. I recently upgraded to the latest version of the plug-in so that PDFs would be viewed in the browser window instead of prompting a download.

The new version corrected that (plus I like the view or download option as well), but now I have a lot of information generated by the shortcode that I would really like to remove, including the date, categories, etc. In addition, I would also like to disable the landing page linkage because I am posting my publication to a subpage already, and the landing page is adding an otherwise empty page that I really don’t need.

Is there any way to address these issues?
