• I upgraded to 3.2 from the last latest version and now when making a post / page the visual tab has NO controls. The visual tab still exists and the HTML still has the usual controls in the toolbar, but the Visual tab just simply has no toolbar .. nada.

Tried a few fixes for this and nothing is working.

Cleared browser cache and restarted / refreshed .. no dice.
    deactivated all plugins… no dice.
Switched to default 2011 theme – no dice.

Any suggestions? Not a problem for me to edit in HTML view, but HUGE problem for the blog’s other users.

and yes, my host meets the minimal requirements

  • And another bit of info. The Admin Bar does not appear on the edit.php pages either. It appears on all other pages in the WordPress Dashboard.

Guys this topic is aprilrobin ?? Please make your OWN topics if you do not have 100% exactly the SAME issue.

And that really sounds like a java issue… But still, aprilrobin, check what version of PHP you’re on. GoDaddy should have it listed in your control panel, or whatever they use for it.

You MAY need to delete the wp-includes and wp-admin folders and copy them up again fresh. Don’t worry, it won’t affect your posts ??

    timchorlton:

I noticed this when looking at my host (123-reg) – https://goo.gl/bC5Gs – is this important?

Contact your host about that and you need to make your OWN topic for more help. Similar issue, not the same.

@ipstenu – sorry, I thought it might help shed some light on the problem as I am having exactly the same issue as aprilrobin…

I’ve contacted my host, if that doesn’t resolve can I continue in this post or do I have to start a new one still?

    April,

This may be silly (you probably tried it), but have you tried clearing your cache? The sprite serving the TinyMCE icons is new, so it might still be serving a cached one.

Not a silly question, but yes I did clear everything and tried 4 different browsers.

I think I’m just going to do a manual re-install today and if that doesn’t work, I’ll wipe it out and re-install 3.1.whatever via my host until things are cleared up. Thankfully, this blog isn’t developed enough that it’s a big deal.

And lol, I certainly don’t mind if anyone else having this issue chimes in, the more heads together the better. =)

timchorlton – New please ?? Your issue really is a little different and it dilutes our ability to help ANYONE if we’re trying to do too many in one thread.

@aprilrobin – if this helps at all… I’m running wordpress 3.2 and hosting on 132-reg and I can’t see the visual editor and my post text is white. I use Chrome running on OSX 10.5.8.

I edit a blog for my friend. I just logged in using Chrome on OSX 10.5.8 and he has upgraded to WordPress 3.2 and all is well. He hosts with iPage.

I don’t know if that helps at all but I think I can narrow it down to my host as I’ve done a clean install with no plugins followed by downloading the latest version an uploading the config files etc via ftp.

    sorry – i was typing when you posted – I’m off! ??

timchorlton, thank you, that does help me a lot, actually. I won’t waste my time tonight with the manual re-install =)

Yep, I am definitely blaming it on Godaddy at this point. I have now upgraded a different site on Host Gator with no problem.

I got same problem with aprilrobin on my fb-blog.net. Now was solved. I do this :

    – Clear my application cache with CCleaner (googling and free download) because i used Win7. You can try skip this if you not win os

    – I follow ipstenu suggestion to delete the wp-includes and wp-admin folders and copy them up again fresh.

    – Clear my browser cache and everything.

Voila.. my problem solved and good run with WP 3.2

It didn’t happen right away after upgrading to 3.2, but about a half hour later – perhaps the site caching software caused the delay. Now the editor buttons are gone, the side update and preview buttons are missing and whether the visual or html tab is selected it only shows html. I’ve tried turning off and then on the visual editor in my profile which didn’t work. It’s not a cache issue on my site or in the browser and refreshing wp-admin and wp-includes didn’t fix. Fortunately this is a test site and I won’t upgrade any production sites until this is resolved.

I’m having what visually appears to be an identical problem as aprilrobin’s but that I do not think actually is.

I’m privately hosted and not on GoDaddy so there’s more here than that.

The output from the Health Check plugin reports “Excellent: Your server is running PHP version 5.3.3-1ubuntu9.1 and MySQL version 5.1.49 which will be great for WordPress 3.2 onward.” (Anyone that hasn’t tried that plugin should.)

    I did not have this issue under 3.2 RC1, 2, 3 or 4.

For me, I can get my buttons back by deactivating the Tiny MCE Advanced plugin, which got an update just maybe 2 days ago and appears to be conflicting with the native Tiny MCE.

However, aprilrobin’s comments about the wp-config file have also sent me off to work on that because prior to WP 3.2 RC1 I had php logging just fine, then then RC’s broke my php logging and I had to manually enable WP-Debug in the config. Now that I rolled to 3.2 stale my logging has gone away again. I’ll start another thread somewhere for that but wanted to mention it incase it’s all related somehow.

I use Tiny MCE Advanced and it seems to work fine with WP 3.2
I’m no expert but I found the plugin Use Google Libraries fixed HTML/Visual switching (pre-3.2) and other problems (menu not reorganizing with drag and drop).

Been having the same problem – FWIW – I use the WP-Optimize plugin – ran it & also reloaded 3.2 – all working fine now.

Whether the two are connected, no idea ??
