I was prompt to upgrade to 4.1, and I guess I should’ve known this was going to happen as it happens to me all the time, but I am no longer able to get into my CPanel, I tried to go into the FTP to change the plugins to plugins.hold, with no success, I then tried to switch my current theme to theme-old, again no success. I have tried to re-download wordpress, however I am unable to find the old wordpress that I have installed to make sure I don’t have duplicates, the only thing I can find on my computer is si-captcha-for-wordpress.

I keep getting the error message: Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_json_encode() in /home/content/83/10889483/html/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 668

Please help I can’t figure out what I am suppose to do or what I am doing wrong… I am pretty computer illiterate when it comes to this kinda stuff so if you can dummy it down for me that would be great!

    Thanks

I just want to make sure I understand your problem: You can’t get into your WP dashboard, or you can’t get into your hosting cPanel file manager? (or both?)

I tried to go into the FTP to change the plugins to plugins.hold, with no success

What happened when you tried to rename the plugins directory? or rename your theme? Did that give error messages when you tried to go to log into WP?

It sound like your best bet would be to manually re-update the WordPress core (if you have access to either FTP or your hosting file manager). To do this, download WordPress 4.1 and unzip. Then overwrite all the files in wp- admin and wp-includes, and all the loose files, BUT NOT anything in wp-content, which is where all your site-specfic files live.

Also, have you tried flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches?
