• Hi

I upgraded a site to 4.5 this afternoon and now I can’t get in, not even to the admin panel. Before I clicked upgrade it did say that there might be some downtime but after reading through threads on the same issue I figure that there is a serious problem.

I have tried three different browsers and cleared my browser cache and cookies and nothing has changed. To make matters worse, I currently don’t have the login to the FTP client as I didn’t set up the hosting account and I can’t get hold of the guy who did. Is there any way to just get the site running again without going through FTP???

    Panic mode here.

    Thanks in advance.

  • I have been having issues left and right since I updated my website, I have been working with my host on and off all day to try to get it working.
To top it off, once I do get in I can’t edit anything because the content box to edit isn’t there and the visual composer get stuck loading.
    Very frustrating!

Sorry you guys are having issues – please see https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/read-this-first-wordpress-45-master-list?replies=7.

@josh001 – unfortunately at this point you’ll need server access – that means either (S)FTP, SSH, RDP, or control panel access to the server – or the help of your hosting company – to be able to get your site back up.

i upgraded my wp to version 4.5, n now my site is down.
    it showing error that…
“Warning: mysql_connect(): Headers and client library minor version mismatch. Headers:50546 Library:50627 in /home/familku5/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1515

    what do i do now…
    pls help me guys…

Please note that those of you having issues are only a few (and a rare few at that – likely well under 1%) of the millions of WordPress installs with the 4.5 update. The majority of installations have worked fine.

WordPress is tested fairly well across a wide variety of servers and setups – in fact you can help with testing by participating in WordPress betas (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wordpress-beta-tester/). I also recommend that you have a development/testing/staging server to test plugins, themes, and WordPress core updates against prior to implementing it on a production server.

For those of you having issues the most likely culprits are plugins or themes that have not been tested and/or updated to work with 4.5.

To find out what’s causing the issues, please disable all plugins and use a default theme and see if everything works. If not, do a manual upgrade (see https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Updating_WordPress#Manual_Update).

Once you have a “out of the can” WordPress site (no plugins enabled and a default theme), turn on your non-default theme and see what happens. If there’s issues, contact the theme developer for support or updates.

If everything works with the theme, move on to plugins. Enable one of your plugins and test. Does everything work? Good, move on to the next plugin and enable it. Then test. Do this until you have enabled all the plugins or until you’ve identified issues. If there’s an issue, note which plugin you last enabled and then contact the plugin developer for further support or updates.

Just updated to 4.5 – it seems that visual composer is not working. Yikes, there must be literally millions of website built with VC that are now not working too? Are you aware of a fix please?

    Thanks

@lakecreative – your issue is different. Please post your own support topic. Also please see https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/read-this-first-wordpress-45-master-list?replies=7. Note the fifth reply down in regards to Visual Composer plugin.

    Hi,

I have the latest Enfold 3.5. theme and since WP updated to 4.5. all slide-shows, sliders, images with some effects, etc are gone. They, images, simply don’t show on pages!
I turn the previous version from backup on server, but WP keep on updating!
Is there any possibility to turn off automatic update???

    Thank you!

@altina14 – your issue is different than the original poster’s. Please start your own support post and we can help you out there.

I am also getting this error after upgrading to 4.5 and I am not able to login to the dashboard.

Any Ideas, Where do I start?

    hey it worked.
i updated my wp database.and averything is ok now.
    my site is on…
    thank u.

    Hello,

It may happen for some plugin may not compatible current version. disable plugin one by one and refresh browser window.

You may enable ‘debug’ from wp-config file from edit code and see the result.

Be encouraged, everyone. It is not only a mere 1% of people who are having difficulties with this upgrade to WP 4.5 as was stated earlier. No way. Not from all the posts I’ve seen. I’m about to write a blog post myself about two sites:

One site I had to upgrade the theme and the Revolution Slider so the site would load (it had stopped loading altogether).

On a second site I had to downgrade to the previous version of WordPress since custom permalinks did not work whenever Gravity Forms was activated. I had the latest version of Gravity Forms and the latest version of the template. I changed to a default template (Twenty Sixteen) and the problem did not present itself, so I’m pretty sure the template developer has to provide a fix. Meanwhile I downgraded.

Anyhow, stay encouraged and do not let anyone tell you that you are in the “minority” as tho there is something wrong with “you” because a site you webmaster has a conflict with 4.5.

Please make sure you create your own threads to discuss your own issues. We have to enforce this to ensure that the people who are opening threads receive support; https://www.ads-software.com/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting#postform

Please take the time to create a thread. Posting in someone else’s thread will decrease the likelihood of the original poster’s issue being resolved, even if you are 100% sure that you’re facing the same issue.

After upgrading my WordPress to 4.5 I was asked to upgrade the database as well, when I press upgrade it goes to a kinda blank page stays like that forever. If I refresh the page it would ask me to upgrade the database again. How can I solve this?

    hey there,
i run CLATPress.com and today after updating to the latest version i am unable to login to my admin page or even the website and none of the solutions that i read above weren’t helpful.
please help me solve this problem and login again
