This seems to work for some people:

    1. Delete wp-includes/pomo/translations.php
    2. Replace it with the translations.php file from a freshly downloaded WordPress 2.9.2.

    Tried that did not work.
    Thanks bunches for the help.

Try re-uploading the complete wp-includes folder from a fresh download of WordPress

Esmi, this didn’t work either. What is the error message saying? Something wrong with a translation file?

It sounds like one of the files is corrupt.

Using the above search, it looks like all of the problems were resolved by either replacing translations.php or the entire /wp-includes/ directory.

Maybe you should try re-uploading all of WordPress from a fresh download?

macmanx, that didn’t work either. I have no clue as to what I did wrong. First time I have a problem with upgrading, also first time I have upgraded a 2.5.1 wordpress blog.

is it possible to get the content I have posted on the blog from the files listed on the ftp site files?

That doesn’t make any sense. The errors that you’re seeing have to do with corrupt files. Since a freshly downloaded WordPress exhibits no problems of the sort, neither should yours once you replace all of the files.

Keep in mind that some FTP clients offer the ability to replace files and directories by drag-and-drop, similar to working with files on your hard drive. This can sometimes have undesired effects. It’s best to completely delete your WordPress directory, then upload a freshly downloaded copy.

The posts are not accessible via FTP. They are in your MySQL database.

Did you upgrade from 2.5 to 2.9.2 in a single step? Did you backup your database before you began?

    esmi, yep, sure did.
I take it that was the wrong thing to do. No database backup, not a real priority, as I was going to completely change the blog.
Old info was useful-but not applicable to new blog.
