Upgrading from 2.6.3 to 3

  • Hello!
    I am a newbie and I have to upgrade from 2.6.3 up to 3.0.5 or 3.1 – not sure. Anyway..in my guide it says, that i only copy the new files over the old and in wp-content copy only /languages. In other guides it says first to disable plugins, somewhere I’ve read some changes in .htacces should be applied. Can someone explain to me how should I proceed?
