Upgrading from 5.3.6 to current

Hello.

I am migrating a website and I noticed that they are currently running version 5.3.6 of this plugin, which appears to be very out of date.

I was wondering, if I update the plugin to the 6.X series, are there any issues with compatibility? I know that when major version updates happen, sometimes old data isn’t compatible with the new code. Am I safe to update this plugin without having to set up a bunch of settings? I want to maintain the site as close as possible to how it looks now without touching anything.
