Upgrading to 2.0.0 crashed my WP site
-
Hi, I have been a happy User Profile Picture 1.5.5 admin for a while, but today when I upgraded to 2.0.0, it crashed my entire site and backend access, giving this error message:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home/content/60/7254960/html/wp-content/plugins/metronet-profile-picture/metronet-profile-picture.php on line 641
Fortunately, I was able to restore my website by deleting the plugin, and then re-installing a backup of 1.5.5 which I had kept.
I’m only guessing here, but I suspect your new Gutenberg stuff is what did it, since I don’t use the Gutenberg publish tool. Instead, I am one of millions of WordPress admins who decided to stick with the old publish tool, which is now maintained via a plugin named “Classic Editor” (version 0.5). That plugin enables the WordPress classic editor and the old-style Edit Post screen layout (TinyMCE, meta boxes, etc.).
Can you test your 2.0.0 to make sure it is compatible with the WordPress-designed Classic Editor plugin? I really like using your plug in and hope to keep it for years to come. Thanks!
