• Have this blog https://www.bassonline.com/wp/ that was managed and that has all changed, so we are alittle green ?. Good news is we have Backup,FTP, passwords etc. to continue forward.

Obviously the layout was customized and we would like to upgrade to the 2.9.2…our questions is do we have to install the entire 2.9.2 word press file or can we just upload certain files to upgrade?

If we do have to upload entire file, which files do we reinstall to keep our custom look and data we already have?.

Thank you for your help in advance!

  • You’re at 2.8.5, so upgrading to 2.9.2 should be seamless: Upgrading WordPress ? WordPress Codex

Best to replace all WordPress files, except for wp-content. Don’t copy over or replace wp-content. That’s where your custom theme is, and if you copy over it, you will lose your theme.

Back up your theme via FTP before you upgrade, anyway. And your database, too.
