Upgrading to PayPal Payments – no payment method found

    So, I am experiencing an issue attempting to upgrade to the WooCommerce PayPal Payments plugin (from WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway).

    This is an existing site that’s been up and functioning since 2017. Several plugins installed for various additional features, but nothing too strange.

    Her business model includes allowing customer to “subscribe” to the cart contents for 4, 6, or 8 weeks. The PayPal Checkout Gateway was the only plugin (at the time) that allowed this in combination with WooCommerce Subscriptions and WooCommerce All Products For Subscriptions.

    The site is now complaining we’ll need to upgrade to PayPal Payments. I attempted this by following the upgrade guide (found here: https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-paypal-payments/paypal-payments-upgrade-guide/) but when I got it all setup (yes, enabled the PayPal Gateway, yes, setup and connected to her business PayPal account, etc), and then disabled her existing PayPal Gateway plugin, receiving the message “Sorry, it seems that there are no available payment methods for your state. Please contact us if you require assistance or wish to make alternate arrangements.” during checkout.

    This is less than ideal. I spent about 2 hours researching, debugging and testing (LATE at night so as to not affect her real customers) to no avail.

    Reaching out for some help with the problem.

    I’ve had to deactivate the plugin since having it active means her customers can’t checkout. Remaining on the original PayPal Gateway plugin but running out of time (March 1 is cutoff for the current plugin) to upgrade.

    Appreciate ANY help or suggestions.

    Hi @cenay,

    The “All products for Subscriptions” plugin is something we would need to look further into. I just tested an older version of that plugin and it didn’t work as one might expect.
    Generally, if you are selling subscription products, the Vaulting feature must be enabled in the PayPal Payments plugin settings. Without Vaulting, the subscription functionality would be disabled.
    When vaulting is disabled, then subscription products could only be bought when “accept manual renewals” has been checked in the WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin settings.
    But even then, it wouldn’t work with the version I tested.

    I also setup a “staging” site as a subfolder within this installation. If you’ll send me a direct email or link where I can provide login details I will send those over and you can play to your hearts content in the staging site.

    I am guessing you didn’t see the update? I have created the staging site you requested as a mirror of the original.

    any update on this? We had a similar issue and went back to the old plugin now we hear news of this being solved with a recent version of PayPal Payments, is this the case, can anyone confirm?

    No update. They won’t even acknowledge I had setup a staging site for them to play in. The problem is ongoing, and the plugin won’t be supported much longer.

    One thing they did find was that one of my plugins (All Products for WooCommerce Subscriptions) wasn’t playing nice with the new plugin (Paypal Payments). I guess we are in a waiting mode for that to be resolved, before I can upgrade the Payment plugin.

    Not sure what the hold up is…

    We regret hearing the issue persists for your and apologize for getting back just now as we didn’t see the additional details you provided.
    On the staging site, have you tried performing a full conflict test to rule out eventual issues with the theme or a different plugin? We recommend temporarily activating the default theme Storefront and disabling all other plugins except for?WooCommerce and?PayPal Payments to see if the behavior persists.

    There is a small compatibility issue with the All Products for Subscriptions plugin, but it wouldn’t cause the gateway to not show up on the Checkout page: https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-paypal-payments/#subscriptions-compatibility
    All that must be done for PayPal Payments to be ready for subscriptions is enable the Vaulting feature. Could you share with us another copy of your system report while the latest PayPal Payments version 1.8.1 is active? Thanks!
