Upgrading WordPress – Extended Instructions from 5.4 to 6.0

  • Hello everyone! I hope you are all safe and fine today and enjoying the day. Kindly note I didn’t finish the Upgrading WordPress – Extended Instructions because actually I am afraid of this delete section deleting something wrong or by mistake, however, I need to ask you something about my plugins and backend: https://prnt.sc/SxHNKlypWLVE how it’s saying “You have the latest version of WordPress. ” and all my plugins I believe outdated and expired and even the WordPress version as well. why my notification system or warning is wrong? shouldn’t I see you should update this and that from the backend and not like this everything is updated?? Do you think there is something that blocking the update or installing the new updates directly from my WP-ADMIN backend? i am following this article: https://www.ads-software.com/support/article/upgrading-wordpress-extended-instructions/#step-7-delete-the-old-wordpress-files

  • Do you have a plugin in use, which suppresses the retrieval and display of new update information (both from plugins and themes as well as WordPress)? I think of something like this: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/hide-updates/ – as soon as you deactivate the plugin you should see updates again.

    why would they create such plugins? I don’t understand!! but of course, I don’t have. thanks for informing me actually I had “Hide Dashboard Notifications” and “Admin Menu Editor” I disabled them both. any other suggestions?

    Ok, that was just my first thought since it is quite “common” to use such a plugin. By the way, the background for this is not to be constantly bombarded by update information. Some website operators use fixed times in which they install their updates. Some do it in a staging system first and don’t want to see anything in the live system. There are many reasons for these plugins.

    Could you have a look at Tools > Site Health and see if anything is listed as an error? You can also install the plugin https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/health-check/ for more detailed information at this point.

    Another thought: where do you host the website? Could your hoster have a restriction on external access? That would prevent the information about upcoming updates. Ask your hosting support for clarification.

    no errors in site health. all good to go. now i am facing this: https://prnt.sc/IZon4nk9J9KK after i copy the folder wp-content and running the upgrader of wordpress 6.0

    I’m confused. What exactly did you do? An attempted reinstallation? Or what?
