Upload child theme to existing install from localhost

  • I am trying to determine the simplest way for me to upload my locally developed child theme to my live install of wordpress.

    The live blog already has several thousand posts on it, which I have imported into my local child theme for design purposes.

    I have finished developing the child theme and now need to upload it to the live install.

    Can somebody please advise what the simplest way is to go about this. The guides that I’ve read talk it through with a fresh install of wordpress, but as I already have it installed on my remote server and have a lot of content, I’m not sure what the best course of action as far as importing/overwriting the current remote database is.

    The child theme that I have developed runs on the Genesis Framework.

    Any help much appreciated!

  • Simply upload the child theme’s folder to wp-content/themes using FTP – just as you would do for any other theme.

    Thanks for your reply.

    I have done this but it means that the plugins and widgets are not activated and the images are not uploaded.

    Widgets and theme-dependant images are theme-specific, so you need to set them up again.
