    Hi there,

lovely plugin but it doesn’t seem to work for me. I have tried plugin conflict troubleshooting but the error is the same on a blank install also. Perhaps it has something to do with the settings? Can you help?

When I embed submit shortcode and try to upload it, it gives me this error:

    https://ibb.co/Q9fg8M0

I did not enter a redirect URL but rather left it to reload the same page.

    Thanks a lot

Glad to help. What you describe does not happen on default WordPress site, so there must be some conflict happening somewhere. A good place to get some clues is the site error/access log(s). There you can locate the corresponding error and find out the description (reason) of why it happened.

    Hi

    I’ve been getting some errors,

“Not found” 404 error (seems to be when it is trying to return to the user submission page to give a success message)

    and

“a critical error occurred” (gives me a link to wordpress FAQ trouble shoot page)

Note: The file still ends up showing up in the library, however the “featured image” does not show up, even though this option is checked off in the settings.

This error occurs with admin and other users

    Is this a connection error,
    or a time out error?
or is it clashing with other code on my user submission page?
    or something else?

Note: Sometimes the file submission works and goes through. But 98% of the time an error occurs.

@tyrel02, none of what you describe happens on default WordPress site. So there must be some conflict with another plugin or maybe something the theme is doing. A good way to get more clues is to examine your site’s error/debug logs, and look for any related entries. That will give you descriptions of what is happening behind the scenes.

Also it is recommended to do some basic troubleshooting of your theme and plugins. I would be glad to provide a guide if it will be useful for you.

@specialk thanks for the quick response. I have disabled all plugins and using the default WP themes – tried Twenty Twentyone and Twenty Twenty, it doesn’t work with any of those two. I have also enabled error log/debug mode but it’s not showing any errors. I also don’t see any relevant errors in the hosting error log.

Upon further testing, the submission goes through despite the error, but it is not assigning pictures to posts. Basically, if I submit a post without a picture, all is OK, I even get a confirmation saying the post was submitted successfully.

As soon as I try to upload a picture, I get the error (now I am getting another error: https://ibb.co/c3yvzMQ). However – picture is uploaded to the media folder, post is created, but the picture is not shoeing in the post.

Can I give you some more information and try to troubleshoot?

    Thanks a lot.

Hmm not sure then. Have you tried enabling auto-display of images (in the plugin settings), the images won’t be displayed unless that option is enabled.

Looking at your screenshot, it appears something is not configured correctly on your server, given that you’ve already tried testing with the default theme and no other plugins active. You may need to contact your web host and ask for help.

Also, here is that troubleshooting guide that explains two basic ways of testing and diagnosing issues with WordPress. Hopefully it is useful for you.

@specialk where can I find some plugin requirements? I can try check hosting settings first. Doubt hosting provider will support me with a plugin. Thanks.

There are no specific requirements other than various/standard PHP modules that are used to perform different tasks. For example, image uploads require certain modules that sometimes are not enabled. I don’t have a list of which modules, but an examination of your site’s error log should reveal the cause of the “Internal Server Error” that is shown in your screenshot. That is a 500 level error, so there should be an entry in the log file, and that entry will include a description of what caused the error. That information would go a long way in helping to diagnose and ultimately resolve the issue.

@specialk So I just thoroughly tested it again, trying several plugin settings and out of nowhere it is working fine. I also see no errors in hosting at all from before. Very odd. Anyhow, we can close this for now from my side (not sure about the other person who posted here).

Looking forward to using this plugin.

    Thanks

Edit: One more Q: is shortcode [usp_gallery] available in the free or Pro version? It is not displaying pics.

    Plugin Author Jeff Starr

    (@specialk)

The [usp_gallery] shortcode works only when added to a submitted post. It does nothing when added anywhere else. So that would be the first thing to check, that it’s added to a submitted post, doesn’t do anything if placed anywhere else.

Adds: There also is a setting to “Auto Display Images” that does the same thing, only without having to add any shortcode.
