• Hi,

    Since about a week back, I’ve started to experience failures in uploading images using the “upload files” option in “Add media”. It seems to happen randomly and on every upload. When it fails, the upload loads and loads and eventually times out I assume. The error message I get is:

    Post-processing of the image likely failed because the server is busy or does not have enough resources. Uploading a smaller image may help. Suggested maximum size is 2500 pixels.

    The images are relatively small. 900x500px and about 80kb in size, so the message makes no sense. I have worked on my page for years and never had this issue before. I have also had the same host and made no major changes before this started to happen. No new plugins either. Strangely, when I go back later to check the media page, the images have been uploaded although it gave me that error message and was stuck loading.

    I tried deactivating one plugin at a time but that didn’t help. My other wordpress installations on the same server and the same version work fine so I doubt it’s the WordPress version or the server.

    I noticed that if I upload the original image (400 kb) then it uploads with no issue. If I compress it in Photoshop (80kb) like I have always done without any problems, then it gives me the error. Again, on my other sites that are on the same server, use the same theme and same WP version, all works fine.

    This is so odd. Compressing in Photoshop by setting quality to 50% (or lower) fails upload. Setting quality between 51-100% works fine when uploading…wtf??

    Been trying o solve this with my hosting company but we can’t figure out what’s wrong.

    For the record, the issue was with Cloudflare.
