upload media fails after upgrade to 3.9

  • before I upgraded to 3.9 I could upload media
    since the upgrade I get HTTP error

    I tried deactivating all plugins and reverted to 2014 theme
    still can’t upload media

  • This is commonly caused by an over-aggressive configuration of your server’s mod_security module. Try asking your hosts about it.

    is this a new thing in 3.9?

    No. It’s usually nothing to do with WordPress. It may simply be that your hosts amended your server’s configuration around the time that you upgraded. You need to ask them about it.
