• I have a multisite that was migrated to a new URL a couple years ago. I just noticed today that there is an error displaying in the dashboard:

Error: Your upload path is not valid or does not exist: /home/wssra/public_html/wp-content/uploads

I can see that the path should be /home/wssra-units/public_html/wp-content/uploads and that reflects the old path before the migration. I am not sure why this error did not show up before now. I also notice that the thumbnails in the media gallery are not there any more. If I try to go to the file URL directly from an item in the media I get the “There has been a critical error on this website.” message. None of the sites are displaying images now.

This wasn’t the case a few weeks ago I am sure.

  • By default the username is not required to be updated post migration. You can try enabling the option ‘Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders’ under Settings >> Media.

I do not have that option under settings > media. Any other ideas?

Did you try enabling wp_debug to true in wp-config.php ? If not, enable it and see if it shows any further insights.

Alternately, here is the link which you should try and see if it helps.

It turns out that the theme is incompatible with PHP 8.0 and when I reverted to 7.4, everything works.
