Upload problem – not a newbie

Hi,

I have been using wordpress for a year and never had any heavy problems until now.

I am using openSUSE 11.1 + Plesk 9.5 with PHP 5.2.14 and a mySQL db.

Last week I have tried to install WP 3.0.3, WP 3.0.0 and WP 2.9.2. Everything in each version works except for the uploads of media. My WP content folder is writable, first with 755 later with 777. With the 3.0 versions there was a uploads folders automatically made with the installation. With the 2.9.2. version I had to manually create a uploads folder.

With each version I deleted the uploads folder and created a new. I even created a new uploads folder with a different name and set the path in WP settings.

None of this worked, every time I try to upload an image or something I get an error. In 2.9.2 I get an unknown error. In 3.0 versions I get an unable to upload media error.

I have another WP 3.0.3. site running with the wp-commerce plugin. This one works fine within the plugin. But I get upload media the usual way in WP. Luckily wp-commerce handles it’s own media so I dont have any problems. But it’s kind of annoying.

I have little experience with servers. I even tried to chmod 777 the main httpdocs folder. But even that did not work out.

Any thoughts on this please?
