Upload Video Not Working

I’ve seen this issue as unresolved when searching, but I’m hoping someone knows the answer.

I am on WP 2.7.1. When I go to upload a short video, it will show it being crunched, but then I get no “processing” message, and even days later, there is no code assigned when I click “show”. As a result, when I try to add uploaded video to my posts, it will only post as a link to its own url, which then results in a 404 error.

I’ve tried two different plugins to help me upload; Embedded-video and Flash Player. While the icon for Embedded Video shows on my toolbar, the same thing happens. The Flash Player isn’t showing at all.
