  • Are you restoring your website completely? If so did you restore the MySQL database as well?

i didnt touch the MySQL database, but isnt it supposed to automatically re-create one?

    Nope. WordPress stores:

    1. Images in upload directory
    2. Plugins and themes files in wp-content directory
    3. All content (text of blog posts, pages and even WordPRess settings) in the MySQL database.

So in this case you also have to migrate the MySQL database.

but i’ve deleted all files+folders in File Manager (literally everything but cgibin + stats), and deleted all SQL database for a fresh new start….
(my wordpress was actually hacked, so i wanted a ‘fresh’ start)

If you also deleted the database then you deleted all the content. Do you have a backup of all the files and the databases?

If yes I would recommend you to restore them and get your website checked by an anti malware service such as Sucuri (https://www.sucuri.net).

    And then clean it.

i have just a backup of the files, not the database (dropped them – damn it!)
    just files not sufficient?

Unfortunately files will only contain plugins, themes and images. Contact the hosting provider in case they have a backup of your MySQL database.

i backedup the plugin and theme… so even with a fresh wordpress install, and then successfully uploading those two backed up .zip documents, and activating them won’t work?

Nope. The actual blog post and pages content (the text, image locations etc) are stored in the MySQL database.

ok – will check with them – thanks alot ??
