    Hi

My site is hosted in BlueHost. Have not changed theme for years. WordPress is updated. old images in media library and posts are ok.

If I upload a new image, it shows as a blamk square in media library and in post if included in a post. The only way to see it displayed is to go to Edit and then to Edit Inage, There it shows fine.

I have disabled all pluggins and tried everything I could google for days, even tested changing theme, Tried using a Web image instead of jpg. Checked that uploaded images were in wp-content, uploads file, etc .

Tried uploading directly to post. This shows grayed image in post for a second and then it disapears with no trace, Also tried uploading using drag and drop option. Same result. Any ideas as to what is happening?

  • Hi

Did you check the permissions set for the folder where the ‘blank’ images are? usually 755

    Hi,

Thankyou. I LOOKED at the permission for the downloads , but do not know if it is Ok. Tried to upload a screenshot here but it sees it can’t be done (no URL) windows shows:

    (x for checkmarks)

    Mode                   user                       GROUP                WORLD

    READ                    x                              x                                             x

    WRITE                  x

    Execute                x                              x                                             x

    Permission:                        7                             5                             5

Tried changing 755 but it seems not accessible to change

    Hi

755 should be the correct permission for the folder wp-content and also tends to be needed for all folders within.

As far as I know, you should be able to use the image block to show your screenshot. Did you try selecting the Toggle block inserter?

Solved! Thank you so much Farook.

The permission settings in the wp-content and downloads files ser ok, as were also the yearly and monthly files, EXCEPT for the 2023 and its monthly subfiles (01, 02, 03, 04 and 05) were not-

Checking the Read and Execute lines of the World column automatically changed the permission of those files from 750 to 755.

Images uploaded previously this moth still do not show, but no problem. Erased those and the ones uploaded today work fine. Now I have to fix a lot of settings destroyed by deactivating all my plugins.

    Have a nice day.
