• Hi, I’m having an issue with hyperlinks in pdf’s I upload to my site. I’ll take you through my process – I write a hand written newsletter, I take a picture of it, import it into photoshop, I use the slice tool to add hyperlinks and I use the “_blank” command so the links will open in a new page/tab, next I export the file as html, convert it to a pdf and then upload it to my site. Somewhere in the conversion to pdf/uploading to the site, the hyperlinks within the pdf lose the open in new tab functionality, making the user experience awful (readers have to continually hit the back button).

Here is a link as an example (anything in blue is clickable): https://live432.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/what-might-have-been.pdf

Any thoughts on how I can maintain the new tab functionality? Switching to a digital newsletter is a no brainer, but would love to continue the handwritten aspect of the publication.

    Thanks for the help.

  • Do the links work before you upload it?

They don’t actually – I just opened the pdf from my desktop in Safari and the links open in the same page. So it looks like the new page functionality gets lost in the html –>pdf conversion. I guess that’s more a question for Adobe than WordPress.

Apologies – I didn’t think to open the pdf in Safari before I posted. Unless you have any suggestions, I’ll resolve the post.
