• Hello, this plugin is definitely a game changer and very useful. However, I have one persistent problem with it, perhaps you can help…here is the sequence:

    1) I upload from server a file named X.jpg

    2) I realize once it is in the media library that the file needs to be modified (example a png that has the transparent areas filled in black automatically upon importing to Media Library)

    3) I delete the file from the Media Library

    4) I upload the corrected version via FTP to the server

    5) I try to upload from the server again (please note that keeping the exact image name and path is essential so we do not loose traffic from Google Images as this is a website migration towards WP)

    6) I get the message “That file already exists in the WordPress media library” and nothing is uploaded to the Media Library, at least not with the name of the media file as I am hoping.

Do you have any idea about how to effectively delete the file from the Media library so it can be uploaded from server again without having its name changed or having the error message above?

    Thanks!

Hi @javier1970 I apologise for not seeing this sooner.

I’m quite honestly not sure why that’s happening, however, I’d like to suggest that perhaps you should use a media-replace plugin instead, for example, the following plugin:

What is happening though – Add From Server queries the filepath to see if it exists within the WordPress database still, it sounds like for some reason, some of the metadata is remaining left behind after you delete it.. Not sure why
