uploading image – failed to write file to disk

  • I cannot upload images like I used to, all under 1MB size. Here is the error message in red when trying to upload media.
    UPLOADING
    Dismiss Errors
    _MG_0002-2.jpg
    Failed to write file to disk.

    I have tried several different images including ones I have already uploaded.

  • If you are using Ubuntu with Apache stack

    replace yourusername with your user name

    $ sudo chown -R yourusername:apache /var/www

    $ sudo chmod -R g+w /var/www
