Uploading pop-up images

I recently migrated my blog from MovableType to WordPress. Under MT, when I uploaded images, the program allowed me to choose between a pop-up image and an embedded imaged. This made it relatively simple to create a thumbnail image that, when clicked, opened a larger image in a pop-up window. How do I do this with WordPress?
