  • wheres your blog?

    here?

    https://www.headphonedeals.org/

if thats the case, you didn’t upload them to the proper directory.

    See this:

    https://www.headphonedeals.org/wp-content/themes/

properly uploaded themes will show up in there.

    I recommend reviewing the codex,

    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Using_Themes#Adding_New_Themes
    https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Using_Themes#Adding_New_Themes_in_cPanel

Pay attention to where it tells you to upload to.

this is where i’m falling down, i basically don’t have a clue about things like “root folders” etc.

i’ve gone to my cpanel> file manager but there’s no “worpress folder” as stated in the instructions???

the theme folder was there (mandigo 14) and i clicked on it and extracted the file.

the “public_html” folder is empty for some reason.

i’m a newbie at this so please speak as though your speaking to an idiot, because at this stuff, i am!

    did you install wordpress?

    if so, how?

also, please note that the “wordpress” directory was an example for a specific set up:

In cPanel File Manager, navigate to your themes folder. If you have WordPress installed in it’s own folder called wordpress, you would navigate to “public_html/wordpress/wp-content/themes” and if WordPress is installed in your web-root folder you would navigate to “public_html/wp-content/themes”.

if you dont have a public_html directory, what DO you have? In other words, instead of my guessing, why dont you simply rattle off what you do have. Even better , you know what the defualt themes names are I just showed you — why not simply navigate around in your file manager until you find where they are.

The very worst that can happen is that you will become more acquainted with your site.

thanks for your help by the way.

yes i installed wordpres via fantastico in the cpanel.

poke around – do you have a www by chance?

if you site is installed in www, that will work, though I never recommend it since thats a symlink, but anyway..

    just go to www/wp-content/themes/

    aha!
    look at this ??

    https://www.headphonedeals.org/wp-content/themes/classic/

    the full path is :

    /home/captain/public_html/wp-content/themes

so your public_hml directory is NOT empty.

well i’m clicking everthing liek mad and i still can’t see the theme

    https://www.headphonedeals.org/wp-content/themes/

    i’ve got this

    https://www.headphonedeals.org/mandigo-14.zip

and i managed to open up a nice little picture of my template

    Thread Starter matthewscarlett1973

    (@matthewscarlett1973)

in my cpanel there are small yellow boxes.

    cpanel-datastore
    fantasticodata
    sqmaildata
    trash
    etc
    mail
    mandigo-14
    public_ftp
    public_html
    tmp
    www

when i click on “www” or “public_html” files come up including mandigo 14 and associated files.

    when i click on each file there’s a url EG;

    https://www.headphonedeals.org/mandigo-14.zip

if it helps i’m using an apple imac and i’m trying both mozilla browser and safari browser

    Thread Starter matthewscarlett1973

    (@matthewscarlett1973)

“CLICK” i think i understand, so what you’re saying is that the mandigo folder should be in or moved to the

    /home/captain/public_html/wp-content/themes

folder. and if it’s not i need to move it there, right? and then extract the mandigo file form there??

because when i clicked through the folders (in cpanel) and ended up in the “themes” folder, it’s not there. only the two standard themes.

    whooami

i can’t thank you enough for your help today. i’ve done it, but only with your help.

    thankyou!

    your welcome! ??

By the way, you really are doing that the hard way, it’s muchhhhhh simpler with an ftp client and copy of winzip
