I am very new to this sort of thing, however I’m trying to learn. I’m a drag and drop user. When I hit the ‘add new’ and then select a file (images are what I”m trying to upload so far, .jpg) it acts as if it’s uploading something, but then it says:

The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads.

I’ve searched the forum for similar things, but so far I either can’t find what they’re talking about, or it didn’t work. One thing I did (on the host site) temporarily made the whole wp webpage as an error message, though I re-changed it and it works again. Theme used doesn’t change anything. I’m using ipage.

Again. I’m really new to this. However, I have a second webpage, a blog, that works fine. I just click upload and it appears. No problems, ever.

  • verify that wp-content/uploads folder exits
make sure image size is allowed for upload (youre not being timed out)
verify you have access to upload the image to the folder (cmod)
ftp cmod the upload folder. i think 755 maybe wrong though. check your other site and see what its settings are at

the wp-contents/uploads folder exists. The image size was like 50kb. I am unsure how to check the cmod thing. most of the files are all 755, however when I turned any of them to 777 the entire website was an error message. I couldn’t even do anything until I changed them back. The biggest difference between my websites is that the other one is not 4.4.2. It’s an earlier version, and with the problems I’ve been having I’m afraid to change anything on it lest it quit working! (all the other settings as far as I can tell are the same, except there are more green pencil things on the other one, but there seems to be no way I can add green pencil things.) Sorry I am so clueless at this.

Oh, hey, I got it to work. I had a box clicked that said ‘organize files by date’ (or something along that line). I unclicked it before and it didn’t seem to help. But then I noticed that there were files under the wp/contents/uploads one called 2016, and then a sub of that one was 03. Since I didn’t want them organized like that I deleted them. And after that I can upload images. ?? Thank you for your help.
