• I’m not sure if this is a “me” problem, or a “Yahoo!server” problem. Since Yahoo!Webhosting is one of the hosts advertized on WordPress for server space, I’m assuming that there are other people who use the combo to publish their blog.

Obviously, you can’t upload anything larger than 5MB onto their servers (I’m trying to upload a podcast). I’m really ignorant in all this, but I checked the codex and realized I needed an FTP client, which I know nothing about — but I figured it out anyway. Okay, firezilla is up and running well, and when I followed the directions (put in the address correctly, YahooID and password in small caps, etc. the response it shows from Yahoo! is that “Your FTP session could not be opened.” and then there is a referral page to a yahoo help page (which I also checked out). Nothing that’s helpful.

There’s nothing wrong with my account — i haven’t changed anything . . . i put the info in several times, and still i got the same answer. Is it me, or is it Yahoo!?

Thanks to anyone and everyone that’s able to help! Much appreciated!

  • Yahoo hosting is notorious for being awful.
Personally I think it should be removed as a recommendation…

    Common issues:

-Check to make sure you’re using [email protected] as your login name and not just ‘username.’
-Make sure your hostname is https://ftp.yourhostname.tld
-Make sure you have created a username for yourself in your Password Manager in the Hosting Control Panel under the Manage tab, and that you clicked the “enable FTP” link after you created your user
