Uploading XML Sitemap to Webmaster tools. Is it necessary?

  • I’ve created a sitemap using the plugin “XML Sitemap Generator” 3.2.9.

    It says search engines will be notified automatically from now and on. Do I still need to upload it to Google webmaster tools?

  • You should go there and make sure that it is pointing to the generated file. if it was sitemap.xml and is now sitemap.xml, google will use this in the future when crawling your site. It will also then note any related crawl errors.
