I’ve got a huge uploads folder that absolutely will not be practical to backup via Updraft, so i unchecked the Uploads folder in settings so that it would just ignore that whole directory, but when I create a backup, after creating DB, Plugins and Themes zips, it proceeds to Uploads and then proceeds to work on zipping the 17GB of files!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

Please can you provide a link to your log file for the problematic backup? (You can download it from the “Existing Backups” tab of your UpdraftPlus settings page).

It’ll be too long to paste into the forum here, but you can download it to your computer, and share it with Dropbox, or paste it in pastebin.com, or any similar service, and post the link here.

    Best wishes,
    David

    Hi,

The log indicates that the Uploads option is still selected.
Could you try re-saving your settings with your browser’s Developer console open? (See here for how to open these on your browser)

Do you see any errors appear in this console?
After re-saving, click Backup Now, then click the ‘(…)’ next to ‘Include any files in the backup’. This should display the checkboxes for what to include. Are these checkboxes set correctly?

    Hi Dhutbourne,

Thanks. I went to settings page, checked the uploads box, saved settings then unchecked the uploads box again and saved settings, all without errors in the console.

Ran a backup and it ran as expected. All directories except Uploads. Hurrah.

    Thanks for your help.
