• I was just finishing up my latest site, a huge events plugin, 2 months solid work.

I was going through the plugins, deleteing ones used for development, and I deleted a “Hello World” one– what I didn’t notice is that in the confirm delete, it said

“The following will delete ‘Hello World‘ AND ‘My-plugin

I hit delete and it was gone.

I’m literally shaking I’m so upset. I wrote it once, then WordPress 3 RC1 came out, so I redid the entire plugin and there is NO WAY I can afford to write it a third time.

Can someone please, please, please, tell me that when PHP deletes files they go somewhere, and how I can get my baby back..

Please. I will be forever greatful.

(Note to everyone: ALWAYS BACKUP REGULARLY, ONCE A WEEK DOESN’T CUT IT)

  • If you aren’t backing up your files to your local PC (typically that means using FTP to download the files from your host to your PC) then check with your host to see if they did a backup.

    * i should have mentioned, this was all on my local development server… I was cleaning out the old plugins before I published and backed-up.. literally SECONDS away from backing up AND pushing to FTP I accidentally deleted.

I’ve just ran through google, and the only solution I can find is recovery software, so I’m trying that now… but fml… does php have a hidden trash or somthing I don’t know about…?

Don’t know. Might try so ‘undelete’ utility/recovery. Sorry not much help with that.
