• The worst-case-scenario has occurred for us.

Our website has basically crashed, and our designer who claims his hosting was doing a daily backup was apparently not.

Our website can only be restored to earlier this year, which is a big problem.

No matter the cost, is there any way to backup the site without hosting or WordPress database backup?

    Thanks to anyone who assist.

  • Hello,

Here’s a fairly solid article that might help.

    restoring-a-website-without-a-backup

If you provide me with your url I could see if the site has been cached in the major search engines. You may be able to retrieve content this way.

    Thanks

    John

You can see what pages are indexed at archive.org, but unless you have a database backup then there’s no way to get the content back. If there’s no backup, there’s no backup. You can’t just create one out of thin air (as much as me and everyone else wishes that we could!)

The only thing to take away form this is that it’s a lesson to always keep at least one reliable backup method out there. Most hosting companies have daily backups that do work, and I’d also sugest taking your own backups as well. There’s a lot of differnt ways to do this depending on how much you want to backup, so do some searching and you’ll find a vast array of options.

    John,

    The url is PileBuck.com.

Losing the last 6 months or so of the blog has been the biggest hit.

If you are able to assist, can you message me? We’re willing to pay anyone who can successfully make a backup.

    Thank you.

@alexsmoot: Sorry, but it sounds like you are out of luck. As @catacaustic said:
