I like to make this happen for free, since my budget is very limited.

In the new blog, go to Tools → Import → WordPress and upload the file you downloaded in step 1. Make sure that you choose the option to Download & import file attachments. This option will be available after you upload the file.

Yes, I know that – but it sounds like you’re thinking that .ORG hosts sites – which is not the case. You have to pay for your own hosting and manage it yourself. This site (www.ads-software.com) only provides the software (WP core, themes and plugins) and these support forums.

These are the recommended hosts –

Although there are many others out there. Do be aware that free hosting does not run WP very well (if at all) so that’s not recommended.

hmmm, I did pay a host company: hostgator
so what do I need to do now?

Install WordPress- they have a 1 click install

I tried the one click install, all it seem to do is downloading it onto my desktop

If you have a custom domain name on WordPress.COM, you need to change the nameservers –

Guess domain server would be with hostgator? or wordpress.com?

HostGator – look in their documentation for the nameserver settings.
