Urgent help, suddenly error on wordpress

  • Hello,

    Everything has been running fine with my wordpress. Suddenly woke up this morning and have the following errors:

    Homepage: [ERROR] Can not open directory for URI: /!
    Wp-admin: 404 page

    Disabled all plugins via FTP, nothing happens.
    Nothing has been changed. Permissions look ok. Htaccess look ok.

    Can anyone help!?!?

  • It is worth renaming your theme folder like you did with the plugins, just maybe there is a fault in the theme.

    Can you open /readme.html on your website ? If you can’t then you have a serious hosting issue.

    Have you looked at your website logs ?
    Also look at your disk usage and bandwidth, years ago I was hosting a parasite website.

    The same time I posted here, submitted a critical ticket at my host.
    They told that the permissions from the domain (root) folder were changed to 750 instead standard 755. This happened also with couple of domains I have. Weird… but looks solved now.

    This is a nightmare for anyone, wake up in the morning and see that things were changed while sleeping…

    Another domain had the same problem (perm 750), and now reverted back to 755.
    I can now access wp-admin, but homepage shows blank, no error, nothing.
    any hint?

    Suggest that you load the plugin: “All in one WordPress security”, it has a section which checks all the file permissions. This will be the quickest way to check and remedy the general problem of which file/folder permissions have been fooled with.
