Urgent help with Parse Error

    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_ELSE in /home/s/t/stellamaxfield/public_html/wp-includes/user.php on line 118

    Any help out there?

    Have you installed a plugin recently? It may be corrupted.

    If you have, login via FTP, or via the File Manager of your CPanel and remove the folder containing this plugin.

    No plugins installed.

    Although I have updated Akismet but did not get an API key yet.

    Would this affect it?

    I have FTP’d the original user.php file and I can then access the site and dashboard
    but when I log out I get the error.
