At the moment I get a page that is running script with no login box and need to get in urgently to do some work. It’s been over a week and I have not been able to get in and now urgently need this resolved…

    What to do?

    Thanks
    Ricki

  • Hello, Ricki, & welcome to the WordPress support forum.

Firstly, thank you so much for including the url to your site. It really helped in diagnosing your problem.

Looks like you’re running some sort of custom widget as your login. Here’s the text:
    “This Is A Custom Widget
This Sliding Bar can be switched on or off in theme options, and can take any widget you throw at it or even fill it with your custom HTML Code. Its perfect for grabbing the attention of your viewers. Choose between 1, 2, 3 or 4 columns, set the background color, widget divider color, activate transparency, a top border or fully disable it on desktop and mobile.”

What you’ll likely need to do at this juncture is to rename your theme folder, i.e., avada1, for example–WARNING!!!! THIS WILL BREAK YOUR BLOG TEMPORARILY!!! This should allow you to log in & make the necessary changes. You can then change the theme back, & perhaps not use the custom widget.

If that doesn’t help, Ricki, please paste a copy of your .htaccess file w/your next reply. But I really think this widget is the source of your difficulty.

If these instructions are unclear, or if you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask, ok?

    Hi Jackie,

    Thanks for your response.

I appear to be locked out again.

How do I get back in?

rickiet, it appears you’re using a WooCommerce login as opposed to the standard WordPress one. If that is indeed the case then, since WooCommerce is basically a commercial product, might I suggest that you request their help w/this, as most support forum volunteers don’t have access to this particular product, & it is the vendor’s responsibility to assist w/such matters.

If that is not the case, however, then please check to see if you have any security plugins running. Sometimes these whitelist your IP, & all is well–until your IP changes, in which case you get locked out. You can put a 1 or a .old after the folder name of any security plugins you may have, which will disable them & allow you to log into your site.

I need to get back into my site.
I have done a search of retrieving URL in the support forums and came up with nothing.
can someone at wordpress please assist me by providing me details of what my current url is.

It’s been over a day and I have had no assistnace.

How am i supposed to operate a business?

I need my URL sent to me now. It’s totally unacceptable that users are not able to get assistance straight away when it comes to issues like this where we are locked out of our sites.

The security settings that I activated have somehow changed my URL and now i can’t get in as I don’t know what the URL is? It was changed by the activation of the security settings and I need to get into my site asap.

Please remember that everyone is a volunteer on these forums. I doubt that anyone can advise you of your login URL as there are not enough clues as to what has actually happened.

Can you post the contents of your .htaccess as Jackie asked. Also have you tried the troubleshooting steps Jackie suggested?

Do you know which plugin you were configuring and which setting for that plugin you changed before you lost access?

If you can narrow it down to a setting on a specific security plugin you installed, you may be able to get some help from people who are familiar with this issue on the sub-forum for that plugin.

First, rickiet, please understand we on the forums have no access to anyone’s server. WordPress is just a website building application, & we on the forums are volunteers that try to help folks when they run into problems. We’re on various timezones & in various parts of the world–I, for example, am in Arizona, & 8 hours behind you time wise. So, your requests for help came while I was trying to catch a few z’s.

It looks as though you’re still running some sort of custom widget. Please disable that by renaming its folder by appending a 1 or a .old to the name. If you did something to a plugin, deactivate that as well by using the same method. Then try to log in.

Please let us know how that goes, won’t you? & please include the information I requested previously, or request clarification as to how to do so in order that we may better assist.
