• Good day! We are really trying to isolate this issue and its taking tons of time and energy. We really love CME and don’t mind buying the pro version if it can fix this issue we are having. We have a Role titled “Seeker” this is used for certain users to be able to access specific pages. Lately whats been happening is out of nowhere someone’s role will be reset back to “subscriber” causing them not to be able to access those pages. How can we fix this? Thanks for your time and attention.

There is no Pro version of CME. Make sure you’re running the current version of (1.5.3), which includes this fix:

Fixed : Deletion of a third party plugin role could cause users to be demoted to Subscriber inappropriately

Yes we did that and this is still happening and we can’t figure out what is triggering it.

So the CME interface was not being used for any role creation, editing or deletion around the time of these role resets?

The only time CME code is involved in a role change is when you delete a role using the CME interface. Doing so causes CME to switch corresponding users to the default role. However, starting in 1.5.3, that role set is skipped for users who have roles assigned supplementally. For example, deleting a plugin-defined role definition cannot cause an Author to be reverted to a Subscriber.

If you are seeing users reset to a Subscriber role under other circumstances, it may be that other plugin code is making the same mistake that CME did prior to 1.5.3. Keep in mind that although CME supports the creation and editing of WP role definitions, it is not responsible for all use or abuse of those roles ??

No I haven’t changed any permission in months, right now I’m seeing if its WPMU’s dashboard plugin. To make it clear for all I have not been able to confirm this is Capability Enhanced Manager doing this it just handles the roles so it was the first place I started.
CME is a 5 star plugin in my book. I just can’t figure out what is doing this, it happens so periodically I can’t just deactivate all plugins and wait until it doesn’t happen again without seriously impairing or site.
