URGENT Plugin Failure Spawning 403 Errors

The iThemese plugin (free version) is spawning 403 for URLs as follows

    Website: https://www.romancescamsnow.com

Link you are blocking: https://romancescamsnow.com/dating-scams/landmark-case-changes-everything-for-money-mules/?utm_campaign=SCARS? Newletter ? News %26 Information About Scams&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Revue newsletter

Link you are NOT blocking: Landmark Case Changes Everything For Money Mules – SCARS Romance Scams Education & Support Website (romancescamsnow.com)

    WHY???

Thes blocked link comes from our newsletter provider GetRevue.com – this is a recent problem – last week or so, it suggests it is related to a recent update???

Non of our newsletter links now work, this has destroyed our campaigns during our most important week of the year! By turning OFF your plugin things work – ON doesn’t work.

We have gone through the .htaccess & wp_config files – no joy. We have gone through every option in ithemes security – no joy. The ONLY thing that solves the problem is to deactivate.

What is worse, you don’t even have a way on your website to report problems to you. Very unacceptable.

Have been a long-term user, at least 9 years – but sadly I cannot be any more – you broke your plugin. If you can fix it, please email me at [email protected]

  • Hi,

You can try disabling the following features to see if it helps. I would also suggest checking for a plugin conflict and verify everything installed is up to date.

    Hackrepair Blacklist Feature
    (Security> Settings> Banned Users)

    Filter Long URL Strings
    (Security> Settings> System Tweaks)

Filter Suspicious Query Strings in the URL
    (Security> Settings> System Tweaks)

    Filter Non-English Characters
    (Security> Settings> System Tweaks)

You may also try enabling XML-RPC and allowing Full Access to the REST API.
    (Security> Settings> WordPress Tweaks> XML-RPC)

    @beardedginger thank you

Yes Filter Non-English Characters (Security> Settings> System Tweaks) is a problem because it interferes with search strings and producing the 403 errors

However, we traced it back to BulletProof security that we use as well. We continue to use it, but we had to turn off its strongest feature because it was causing the 503 errors when incoming from external links.

The new troubleshooting plugin is great for helping to resolve complex plugin incompatibilities

    The new troubleshooting plugin

    ?

The Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin ?
