    Hello Guys!!!

Version 3.1.10 is a major update for the URIS plugin.

The effect you will see after plugin version 3.1.10 update:
    – All slider settings will be reset once after this update. You need to set all slider settings once again. I am really sorry about this mess, but It’s strongly required with the plugin for good results.

    Major changes I did:

Double Serialization of Slider Setting Removed
I have removed the serialize() and base64_encode() bad function.
The plugin was using double serialization of the code for saving settings which were the bad coding.
And WordPress guidelines also not recommended that to serialize the data into the bad format.
Many developers/users who are using the plugin also suggested that to remove bad saving of setting format.
So, I finally removed that from the plugin and implemented the new and stable logic of the code.

    Slide Alt Tag
If the image has already an alt tag set by admin through Media then the plugin will use it apply to slides.
If Image hasn’t an alt tag then plugin use image title.
If the image hasn’t a title then the plugin will use the slider post title
That will make your slider slide truly SEO friendly.
If you Guys request me to add a setting to set Alt tags for each slide through slider dashboard then I will implement this setting for you.

    Some Other Changes
    – Unused assets (CSS, JS, Images) removed
    – Slider latest jQuery library updated
    – Typos fixed
    – WordPress 5.3.1 UI design issues fixed
    – Set Slide Title As setting removed
    – Help and Support Page “site migration section” Removed
No more needed with new code, this section was required due to bad function and coding. The website migration will take effect automatically with slider, no extra steps you need to follow during a website migration.

    Hide Title & Description
To hide Title and description of the slide you need to save it blank.
If you required a setting to hide and show slide Title & Description, let me know I will add into the plugin.

If you have created too many sliders on your website, contact me via my website. I will help you individually to reconfigure the setting for all sliders. I will do all the work for you.

Request: I need your support to keep these changes, please accept and continue with the plugin for the best results in the future.

Really Thanks To All My URIS Users
    Faraz Frank

    Hello @jpoldupont and @nathanielronin,

Thanks for using my plugin. I know all things screwed after major update releases.

    Sorry for the late reply.

Actually, I was building the solution for the major update compatibility.

Finally, added “Recover Old Sliders” into the latest plugin Version 3.4.1.

Please upgrade to the latest version and recover the old sliders.

    Also, share your feedback.

?? Happy New Year To All ??

    Thanks

Recover old slides does not work for us on localhost development site. We enter the slide ID, for example “1132” and hit “Recover Slider” but nothing changes.
Create a new slider does still work – it is just that all the old ones no longer work.
    Workflow was:
    Updated plugin to version 3.4.1
All media linked to existing sliders now appeared blank
Navigate to UR Image Slider / All Sliders
    Select a Slider and Edit
    Media is blank
Take note of Slider ID (eg: “[URIS id=1132])
Select “Click to recover old sliders”
    Enter ID “1132”
    Select “Recover Slider”
No change – Media still blank.

@tssblog the same happened for me, we had to recreate each slider on our site. The developer did message me saying that the update should work, which I appreciated, but this update still hasn’t restored it, if anything, it’s made it worse.

So much for regression testing and and checking backwards compatibility!
Luckily we hadn’t put the upgrade onto any live sites.
@farazfrank – How about pulling the update so there is no danger of anymore live sites being impacted until the bug is fixed?

On my site either, nothing is going well, neither after the new update, nor after a backup of the database … I am particularly disappointed.

I am really sorry for all the mess. I am only trying to help you Guys. ??

Updating URIS from 3.4.0 to 3.4.1 breaks all of the sliders on our site. There is an option to “recover” old sliders, but I tried this option and it didn’t work. The sliders we’d created are just totally empty. It would require days of work to rebuild each of these, and in the meantime, we cannot have pages with no images appearing because the sliders have been emptied of content.

I have resolved the problem temporarily by rolling back to 3.4.0. I will not be updating to 3.4.1. for the above reasons. Please help us to resolve this problem.

Hi. I’ve got 14 sliders all showing a white background. I’ve tried the Recover Old Sliders tool on each, but nothing happened. Is there something more you guys can do to help me recover them? Thanks.

If the solution is to role back to an earlier version, how do I go about doing that?

    Nvm. Just rebuilding it.

Actually I also did some mistake in version number: https://prntscr.com/qkf45u

URIS Major Release Update Version Was: 3.3.10

Using Recover Old Sliders page, you can only recover those sliders which are you created in version 3.3.9 or previous.

The new sliders which are cerated in version 3.3.10 or the latest version, not needed to recover. They already in a good format.

A deep apology to all the plugin users.
