• Hi,

If I change the ‘Product Category Base’ (set at ‘product_category’), the ‘Product Tag Base’ (set at ‘product_tag’ or the Custom Base (set at ‘/product/’) to any other word, I get a 404 page.

I’m trying to change my Custom Base to any other word replacing ‘/product/’, but I just can’t.

I’ve found a few solutions, but they seem to stop working with the current versions of Genesis/WooComerce.
Can somebody give a currently working example to do this?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi there,

Can you provide the code you are using that you mention is not working or a link to the tutorial?

    Kind regards,

    Hi @corinneolson,

I was reading basically anything that popped out of Google after searching for ‘woocommerce change base category’, ‘woocommerce custom base’ or the same but with ‘Genesis’ added to it.

Of course there were several tutorials pointing out solutions with .htaccess, regex and other things that I found kind of overkill. Besides, I’m on Nginx and everything is fine with several fairly complex sites except this part with the base in the permalink. I think this should be easier than messing with .htaccess.

I also read something about a problem with permalinks between WooCommerce and WP MultiSite, which is what I normally use.

Anyway, I fixed it by using the Premmerce Permalink Manager for WooCommerce, which lets you use the Premium version for a few days. That seems to work.

    Kind regards.
