I am helping a colleague with their website, he has recently updated to version 5.4. The home page works fine but any of the links off the home page to other pages on the site have a whole separate url added to the beginning of our domain – causing an error 404 on the page it is redirected to (blockheaduk.com). The permalinks are fine on each of the pages in editing.

I think it is something to do with the site development because both blockheaduk and my colleague’s site were originally built by the same developer, so I think that information from blockheaduk was copied over for my site when it was created and not properly amended. I don’t have access to settings or plug-ins from the dashboard either, so I am thinking that my colleague doesn’t have administrator rights to be able to look deeper into settings.

The original developer is nowhere to be found, how can I get administrator rights, and if I do, would it help fix the url issue?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hy @mollyr,
Kindly follow below steps to flush permalinks.
Step 1: In the main menu find “Settings > Permalinks”.
Step 2: Scroll down if needed and click “Save Changes”.
Step 3: Rewrite rules and permalinks are flushed.

Let me know once when the problem is solved.

    Hi @iambherulal,

Thank you for your help. The main menu down the left hand side doesn’t show settings – https://ibb.co/1zfqD0m. Is this because the account I’m using doesn’t have the access rights do you think?

    Thanks.

Yes your account doesn’t have sufficient permission to change settings. Administration rights required for change Permalinks and other stuff.

Thanks, I’ve talked with my colleague who is no longer in contact with the site developer. Is there a way to get administration rights without being added by another administrator?
