• Hi – I’ve just started using your plugin today and everything is looking good. Thanks for all of your work on this. I just seem to have one problem.

If a user does a search on my site for an item that is displayed in a box, the url of the individual box is returned as one of the search results. However, when I click that result item, I get a 404 as I cannot go directly to the url of an individual box. I have noticed the same if I try to add a Content Block directly to a menu. It adds to the menu, but selecting it results in a 404. I don’t really need to add a CB to a menu (was just testing it) but I don’t want 404s when a user searches my site.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to return the page containing the CB instead of the direct URL instead?

My site is on a test server at https://www.webcraftconnect.com/public_html/hilltoptest2/ and if you search for “Derek” you can reproduce the problem.

    Thanks!

I have seen this before. I believe it was a permalink issue with WP. Just head over to Settings | Permalinks. I believe you do not even have to change anything, just going to that page should solve it.

Let me know what you find?

Thanks – that did fix the 404. However, instead of taking me to the page my box appears on, a search takes me to a display of the text-only portion of that box. Is there any way to make it direct the search result to the containing page? The individual box by itself will not make much sense to the user.

    Thanks for your help!

You’ll want the contact the theme author for that question. WP Boxer cannot (and should not) “decide” where the search result takes you.
    Cheers.
