-
New version is NOT working. The URL’s are not resolving. The new site has the url’s of the old site I cloned.
Please fix asap.

Going on the new home page first time it shows the new website, but as soon as I change to another page e.g. “Contact” it goes back to the old page and also the home page becomes the old page. So, new version is not the solution. I am still in limbo, this page is a for an important organisation and it should work. Waiting for a solution.
PGSince the new version didn’t work I went back to using the old version which was: 2.1.8. That worked good until yesterday when WP updated to version 4.4.
Most of the install works but not all. After I install and upload the cloned site to a new domain everything seems to work except wordpress pages. When I try to edit a WP page the text is blank and I can not edit it or click the publish button.
Is this problem fixed in the latest edition of your plugin? Does the latest edition of your plugin even work yet?
@pg2802 2.2.1 beta has a separate process that runs before the main search and replace process to updates the siteurl (it was added to get around the issue you’re facing) but it sounds like the restore is failing before that so it probably won’t work in your case. however, if your backup is larger than a few hundred megabytes try this
@chris374 this is the first time I’m hearing of it, and I couldn’t reproduce it at my end. I’d be more than happy to run a test if you don’t mind sending the link to [email protected]
After fighting with this for 3 days now and deleting a site 6 times and re-installing WordPress (deleting databases, users etc) here is where I am at.
It appears that every time I created a clone from site A to a new site B the clone was adding the table fields from site A to the existing new site B. So I had two option fields, two user fields etc. but each had its own prefix. This was causing everything to link to the original site A. I created two new clean sites and used your development version. It is now working but there are still two sets of each field. This is not the way it worked in the past is it?
The servers where I am setting up the sites are on two different servers. The install on both servers is creating a prefix for both tables other than simply wp_ . Could this be the issue?
yup, 2.2 and above will only replace tables with the same prefixes.
it used to wipe the database but that has the potential to cause some rather nasty headaches if the database is shared between multiple installations. So what is the solution? Just leave it? During WP Installation I have no control on the prefix names. Do I delete the original fields?
Thanks for responding so quickly.
leaving them as is won’t have a negative effect, but you could delete them if you want.
the final version of 2.2.1 will have an option to wipe the database during restore.Hi I tried the development version you suggested.
I am trying to build a new site from our standard clone for a client with allot of custom work hence why we love your product.
I tried and still getting the old site coming up and the permalinks are not changing. Back up size in 104Mb.
The clone was in 4.3.1 and the new site is 4.4. Could this be the issue?
Is there a way to do this manually?
Thx
Well would so love this issue to be fixed as we really loved this plugin but now it fails every time. So really when will this be fixed?
no, that can’t be it. do you remember what was in the little grey box on the restore successful page?
if you want to do a manual search and replace, you can use https://interconnectit.com/products/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/
p.s. if you don’t mind giving us server access, send a message to [email protected]
Possible workaround (helped me)
I believe I had the same issues during a recent wp4.4 site clone and restore to a new domain. I’ve never had this happen before.
I can’t remember the exact details… but I think logging into the new cloned site, resulted in ACTUALLY logging into the original source site. I didn’t know wtf was going on. I thought I missed or flubbed one of my steps which I have carefully logged down in a guide and have performed dozens of times already.
Anyway, I had 2 sites intertwined somehow.
This is what I did…
– DISCLAIMER….I can’t remember the exact procedure, sorry
– experiment at your own riskVia ftp, I added the following to wp-config.php: of the new cloned site…
define(‘RELOCATE’, true); With that set, try to login to WP.
WP will detect the new location and update the URLs in the database.Immediately remove the RELOCATE line via ftp and save.
– go to WP settings>general>and check to see if site and admin urls are correct and save.
– repeat for the other site.
Good Morning…I have sent your access per your request to your support email.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as were trying to finish off some sites prior to the holidays;)
I understand that this is ultimately not a commercial project and that things like this take some time. Kudos for a well made tool are in order.
However it seems that the tool is not working as it is right now. This is unfortunately not a minor bug, but a complete deal-breaker as it is not doing its core function.
In order to be able to plan ahead I was wondering, is there any ETA for a fix? Is this something that will be resolved shortly or will this take up until the new year?
Hello. I was using your plugin about a year ago and I remember it used to be the best wp cloning plugin which did it’s magic without a flaw. I downloaded it yesterday and not only does it fail but is also likely to render website useless.
I think you should disable download temporarily until you fix this, because currently plugin only spreads misery. Warning sign that says plugin may fail in 20% environements is serious understatement, it fails on Hostgator with clean WP 4.4 install, so the actual percentage is around 80%.to be able to fix it, I need to be able to reproduce the error, and this doesn’t happen at my end. so as I already mentioned in a previous message, send a message to [email protected] if you don’t mind giving us server access.
