• When uploading images, WP appears to store the full path to the Uploads directory – e.g. https://www.mysite.com/wp-content/uploads/myimage.jpg

Most of the time this is fine, but it can cause problems if a site is built under a temporary URL which is them changed via WP Admin/Options/General. This scenario is very common for me as I often have to build a WP site under a temporary URL prior to putting it live – (e.g. https://85.85.85.85/mysite.com/ temp URL becomes https://www.mysite.com/).

In the above scenario you end up with images whose WP table entries have the temp rather than the current URL address – and this can cause images to disappear if WP cache is cleared or turned off.

WP won’t let you edit the URL on the Manage Uploads menu either, so I end up having to delete each image and re-upload once the site is live.

Is a possible solution to offer the admin the choice of amending all of the image urls whenever the WP & blog addresses are changed?
